Quainton PC Petitions for 20mph Limit

Quainton Village

03/02/2025

Quainton Parish Council is urging residents to sign the petition to reduce the speed limit in our village to 20 mph.

Between October 2024 and January 2025, the following speeding incidents were recorded on approach to Lower Street:

  • 426 motorists were recorded driving at 60 mph
  • 213 motorists were recorded driving at 70 mph
  • 53 motorists were recorded driving at 80 mph
  • 8 motorists were recorded driving at 90 mph

During the same period, the following speeding incidents were recorded on approach to The Strand:

  • 3 motorists were recorded driving at 110 mph
  • 7 motorists were recorded driving at 100 mph
  • 11 motorists were recorded driving at 90 mph
  • 9 motorists were recorded driving at 80 mph
  • 34 motorists were recorded driving at 70 mph

These shocking statistics underscore the urgent need for additional measures. Reducing the speed limit to 20 mph is a necessary course of action to prevent potential fatalities.

Implementing a 20 mph speed limit in Quainton would bring significant positive changes, including:

  • Improved air quality
  • Reduced noise pollution
  • Less road wear and reduced vibrations
  • Increased safety for cyclists and pedestrians
  • Preservation of the quietness of our rural village

With the ongoing intrusive works of HS2 and traffic diversions, traffic calming is essential to protect our community from the dangers posed by speeding drivers.

This petition will be sent to Buckinghamshire County Council with a letter by Quainton Parish Council calling on our village roads to be reduced to 20 mph.

Thanks to your support this petition has a chance at winning! More signatures are needed to reach the next goal - can you help?
