At the October meeting of the Parish Council we noted and discussed the many communications from residents expressing concern about speeding and heavy goods traffic and the consequential danger to pedestrians and other motorists, plus alleged damage by passing vehicles to several older properties, chiefly in Strand/Lower Street area.

While the Parish Council does not have all the answers, or the necessary powers or finance to make substantial changes, we discussed the following:

Parking in Lower Street, particularly during school drop off and pick up times

Action: Danny Fahy PCSO will visit the school and discuss its Travel Plan in the hope of encouraging walking to school, parking away from Lower Street, staggered times for entering and leaving school etc.

SLOW warning signs near the school on Lower Street
Action: Transport for Buckinghamshire (TfB) have been approached and confirm the refreshment of the signs is already programmed.

Speeding
The use of a mobile Speed Indication Device on The Strand and Lower Street (and other areas of the village)
Action: TfB has to approve any sites where poles to hold the SID may be used and a meeting has been arranged for October half term

Action: County Councillor Scott Raven hopes to secure professional advice from Buckinghamshire Council for the Parish Council in its determination to secure additional appropriate traffic calming measures.

20mph zones
Action: Bring to the attention of advisory meeting with TfB.

Drainage issues in The Strand
Action: Combine a site visit arranged to look at Winwood Drive with pursuing problems in The Strand. Provisional meeting arranged

Resurfacing The Strand and parts of Lower Street
Drainage and any other utility works must be completed before resurfacing of The Strand

Damage to older properties close to the road
Action: Contact details for the relevant department of Buckinghamshire Council and HS2 to be given to residents
