High Speed Two formally received Royal Assent on 23rd February 2017.
HS2 will run 1.5 kms away from Quainton village at its nearest point. Station Road will be particularly affected as a new road scheme will make it a cul de sac with houses as near as 0.5 kms to the track. The line goes on to impact on Grade II listed buildings, 5 farms and through 4 Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) including Finemere Wood.
HS2 Community and Environment Fund (CEF)
The CEF fund has been created to add benefit over and above committed mitigation and statutory compensation to communities along the route that are demonstrably disrupted by the construction of Phase One of HS2 from London to West Midlands.

The parish council petitioned the Commons Select Committee in October 2015 which included an alternative road re-alignment which would have kept Station Road open.
The House of Commons Select Committee on High Speed Rail dismissed Quainton’s petition in their report published on 22nd February 2016. Page 34 of the report states:
“We were not convinced that there should be any change to the Promoter’s proposed road alignment at Quainton“.
The House of Lords Select Committee on HS2 have also published their report.
The parish council continues to liaise with Bucks County Council and other lobby groups to mitigate the affect of HS2 during the construction phase and operation.
